As we wait for the warm days of spring and summer, we are patiently planning all of the fun things we are going to do outdoors when we can finally put away our big boots and jackets. Here are just a few ideas to kick-start your spring/summer bucket list:

Start Gardening

There is nothing like growing your own fresh produce. You can make a fresh summer salad and then go out to the garden conveniently located in your own backyard for the fixings. Fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, and lettuce can all easily be grown on your own soil. Gardening is something fun you can do on your own, or get the whole family involved!

Take Up a Hobby

If you’re not quite the type to sit outside lounging in the sun, why not try something a little more active to get outdoors? Flying drones and RC airplanes, or even a kite, can be a great way to enjoy an afternoon outdoors. The great thing about these hobbies is that you can bring out the whole family – fun for kids and parents alike!

Build a Patio

If you create the backyard oasis of your dreams, you will most definitely want to spend more time outdoors. Create a backyard outdoor living area with areas to sit down to a meal and areas for lounging and relaxing in the sun. Don’t forget to also create shaded areas, as it can be overwhelming to sit out in the sun all day long.

Take a Walk or Bike Ride

Adding a nice walk or bike ride to your daily regime can be a great way to enjoy the great outdoors this spring and summer. You can go out on your own, with your partner, or bring along the whole family! Many people enjoy taking walks in the evening after dinner. It’s a nice way to wind down and enjoy the sunset – plus, it can help with digestion after a big meal!

Don’t make excuses this spring – get outdoors! We stare outside all winter long wishing for an early spring, so as soon as the warmer weather comes your way, be sure to take advantage! Talk to your family about ways you could enjoy more outdoor time this year.
